Faculty/ General New Student Orientation Sessions
Get ready for your first semester by attending an in-person Faculty/ General New Student Orientation Session! They are designed for both domestic and international new students.
During the sessions, we will:
give you a look at life on campus through activities
walk you through the new student checklist
connect you with faculty and peers
introduce you to student services which support your Douglas journey
answer questions that you have
Note: Register for the one offered by your faculty. If its schedule does not work for you or if there is not one being offered for your faculty, register for a general one. If you are unsure which faculty you are in, check out the Find Programs webpage.

International Student Orientation Session
Join 91¾ÞÈé International for our in-person orientation for international students!
At this orientation session, you will learn more about 91¾ÞÈé International (DCI) and how we support our international students throughout their journey at Douglas.
What to expect:
- Hear from our DCI Team, we will share ways to prepare for your first semester as well as important immigration and academic information.
- Listen to a panel of current international students, who will talk about their journey to studying in Canada and at Douglas.
- Take part in activities, where you'll meet your peers, learn about campus services, and have a chance to win prizes!
Note: International students should attend both this International Student Orientation Session and a Faculty/ General New Student Orientation Session mentioned in the section above.

Learn how to register for courses by attending one of the Registration 101 Workshops online! You will learn how to choose your courses, when to register for courses and how. This is also an opportunity to ask Enrolment Services Advisors questions about course registration.

Learn about important tools, resources and services at the Library and Learning Centre to help you succeed as a first-year student. You will get first hand experience of what an academic assignment looks like and practice how to tackle it in a supportive environment.
This 50-minute workshop will be hosted after each Faculty/ General New Student Orientation Session. In this workshop, learn why academic integrity is important in your studies and the risks and consequences of academic misconduct. Find out what is expected of students at 91¾ÞÈé, including the mandatory course DCUE 0100 - Academic Integrity.
- Meet the 91¾ÞÈé International (DCI) team, learn about our services and how we can support you throughout your time at 91¾ÞÈé.
- Listen to an overview of medical insurance including Guard.Me, BC's Medical Services Plan (MSP) and the DSU's Health & Dental Plan.
- Learn important information regarding your travels to Canada including documents required to enter and arriving at YVR.
- The session will end with a Q&A where you can ask our team your questions.
- This webinar will include all things immigration! Our International Student Advising Specialists will review important documents, enrolment status, working eligibility and PGWP.
- Achieving academic success in Canada might look differently from your previous experiences. Tips for successes and pitfalls to avoid will be shared.
- Getting engaged on campus can have many benefits including building a support system, staying informed and gaining important skills. Learn about the ways you can get involved at 91¾ÞÈé and how to join our 91¾ÞÈé International Mentorship Program.

Online orientation course
DCUE 0200 - New Student Orientation is a self-paced online course designed for new 91¾ÞÈé students. It lives on and it covers all the basics of how to get ready for your first semester here. Learn about all the new student essentials such as how to get your student ID card and where to get your textbooks. Discover the services available to you as a 91¾ÞÈé student. Plus, find out how you can get involved in the College community.
This online course should not be considered a substitute for the in-person orientation sessions.
New students will be automatically enrolled into this course in early August. Please check under the "Courses" section on your Blackboard. If you still have not seen the course on your Blackboard by August 18, contact studentlife@douglascollege.ca.
