Election Information
Faculty, students, and support staff may not hold an elected position on both the College Board and Education Council concurrently.
Each candidate is required to act reasonably, responsibly and in good faith; and shall be required to ensure they are aware of and comply with, all rules, policies and procedures of the College. To ensure fairness, integrity, and professionalism, candidates will conduct themselves in accordance with all relevant College and representative group policies, and shall abide by all election and campaign regulations, rules and/or guidelines established by the Registrar. Once elected to the Education Council, representatives are expected to act in the best interests of the College.
A by-election is being conducted to fill the following position on Education Council.
Faculty Representative
According to the College and Institute Act, a faculty member is defined as an ""instructor, librarian, tutor, counselor, research associate, program coordinator or other employee of the institution that a collective agreement between the bargaining agents as defined in section 1 of the Labour Relations Code, for the institution and faculty members specifies to be a faculty member".
All regular and contract faculty are eligible for nomination or nominate a candidate, with the exception of faculty who are on an approved leave from the College (other than an Educational Leave) at the time of the election or during the term of office.
- One (1) faculty representative will be elected from the following area:
- Student Affairs and Services
- Term of office ends August 31, 2027
Nomination Instructions:
- Read the Elections Rules and Procedures
- Complete the nomination form (Available during the nomination period only)
- Each nominee must be supported by three (3) nominators within the constituent group
- nominee must submit three (3) separate forms (one from each nominator).
- Election Platform Statement
- Each nominee is required to supply a brief platform statement of no more than 250 words which will be posted on the Education Council Election website
- Completed nomination forms and platform statement must be submitted in ONE email to reg_admin@douglascollege.ca no later than 4:00 PM July 28, 2026 with subject header marked:
