The Bachelor of Physical Education and Coaching (BPEC) prepares students for a variety of careers in the sport, physical activity, health, and rehabilitation: physical and health education teachers, coaches, certified personal trainers, kinesiologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, exercise physiologists, and other sport, health, or wellness professionals. After completing the 4-year program, students are eligible to apply to the to become practicing Kinesiologists. They are also eligible to apply to teaching certificate programs or graduate/professional schools nationally or internationally. Finally, students can seek certifications with the .
Coursework
All students take a breadth of courses in the areas of teaching and coaching (e.g., leadership, pedagogy, coaching methods), human performance (e.g., biomechanics, anatomy and physiology, motor skill acquisition), social sciences and humanities (e.g., psychology, sociology, philosophy) and more.
Concentrations in Kinesiology or Health Promotion are optional, each with different course requirements. Refer to the “Program Requirements” for more information.

Fieldwork and Co-Op
As part of BPEC, students get a minimum of 100 hours of hands-on experience in the field with our BPEC fieldwork program. Over four semesters, students are paired with a mentor in the community and learn how to apply course work to professional contexts. Students can also pursue the Co-operative Education Program.
Coaching Education Content from the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) by the is embedded across a variety of our courses. As part of the program, BPEC students can earn “Training Status” in various modules in the NCCP Competition Introduction and NCCP Competition Development streams.
